A New Addition Taking Shape at Konka Karoo
We’re excited to share the progress of our brand-new Bokpoort Cottage – a unique two-bedroom unit currently taking shape in a beautiful, secluded kloof here at Konka Karoo Guesthouse.
This cosy, fully self-contained cottage has been thoughtfully designed with both comfort and sustainability in mind. Featuring two en-suite bedrooms, an open-plan living area, and a practical kitchenette, it offers everything you need for a peaceful Karoo escape.
What makes Bokpoort Cottage truly special is the way it’s being built. The structure is made from 100mm thick cold room panels, providing excellent insulation—keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter. The cottage is also completely off the grid, with borehole water, a solar-powered system, a gravity-fed water supply, and gas appliances for cooking and hot water.
Great care has been taken to minimise disturbance to the natural environment, allowing guests to fully experience the quiet beauty of the Karoo. The cottage will feature an outdoor firepit, a wood-fired splash pool, and access to a nearby waterhole—perfect for spotting wildlife such as kudu, Barbary sheep, and other smaller Karoo animals.
While Bokpoort Cottage is still in progress, we look forward to sharing this special space with you very soon.
